Instruccions per fer un pou

“Instructions for building a well” is a comic selected in the Ara newspaper’s Comic Prize to be part of Vinyetari 4, a compilation of 8 non-fiction stories published by Editorial Finestres.

My paternal family have been farmers for as long as there is record, and have been farmers not only as a job but also as a lifestyle: their connection to the land they cared for, and the knowledge they had about it. My generation will be the first in which there will be no person to continue the tradition.

Through the metaphor of the building of a well, I elaborate a reflection on the loss of this ancestral knowledge about our own territory, the challenges my country faces to find a generational change-over in the primary sector, and the role that is playing the climate change and the severe drought on this crisis.
